  • Craig Olson

    Business Manager

Craig W. Olson is the former President and CEO of Fresh Start Bakeries, Inc. (retired January 2011), one of the largest suppliers of bakery products to the McDonald's restaurant system in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He joined Fresh Start in 1978 as Controller and Vice President Finance and became President of Fresh Start Bakeries in 1982. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Management Accountant. Craig also received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Concordia University in California. He now provides strategic and financial consulting services to private enterprises and institutions.

Continuing more than 30 years of following his personal passion for Christian education, Craig currently serves in various Christian ministries, including: Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board of Regents of Concordia University in Irvine, California; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lutheran High School of Orange County; Co-Chair of the National Campaign Council of Concordia Seminary with his wife, Jane; a supporter of Grace Ethiopian Outreach Ministry and Grace Theological College in Ethiopia; and an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Orange, California for nearly 30 years where he has served in various leadership capacities.

Craig's favorite Bible verse is John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  His favorite thing about ministry is the joy of serving.

When not at Salem, Craig enjoys volunteering for other Christian/Lutheran ministries related to Christian education and church renewal.  Craig and his wife own vineyard property in Paso Robles, growing Cabernet Sauvignon and other wine grape varieties.

  • Henny Swoish

    Ambassador Team Leader

Henny began attending Salem in 2001 and has been a member since 2003.  She took up leading our Ambassador team in 2014.  When not leading our team of ushers and greeters, she works at State Farm Insurance and as a Notary Public.

Henny's favorite Bible verse comes from Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Her favorite thing about serving in ministry is having the joy of greeting each person who comes to Salem with a smile on Sundays.

She also enjoys cooking, entertaining, the beach, and spending time with family and friends.  She has been making people smile since 1994 with her homemade English Toffee.
